Sunsets on Jacó Beach

From December to April, the sun sets over the sea; in the green season, clouds often add colour. Arrive 30–40 minutes before sunset to catch the reflections on wet sand at low tide.

Surfers and waves

A telephoto lens from the sand works best at Playa Hermosa, where the waves break further out. Respect people’s privacy in close-ups.

Wildlife near the coast

Scarlet macaws often fly over Tárcoles and Carara at dawn and dusk. Pelicans glide low over the surf in Jacó.
